BP Spill Live Feed - Leak still spewing millions of gallons of toxic oil each week

This live video of the BP oil gusher at 5,000 feet below sea level clearly shows the BP leak at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico is now leaking worse than ever, despite what the British company would have the public believe. The company has not slowed down the leak since it first began after BP's Deepwater Horizon oil platfrom exploded and sank April 20th. The gusher has already dumped over 50 million gallons of toxic crude oil into the once pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico, destroying the fragile Gulf marine habitat, which serves as the nursery for one third of the US supply of seafood.

Donations are desperately needed for both equipment and manpower that is needed to assist in the massive cleanup efforts in the Gulf. Please donate now.

At this time, the #1 priority of this Society is to assist in communications for these cleanup efforts. We commend the recent action by President Obama to force BP to setup the Oil Spill Trust Fund, but that is only the beginning. We STRONGLY RECOMMEND that the President to direct the federal government to use the US Navy and whatever additional US military assets are required to put an IMMEDIATE stop TO this oil gusher WITHOUT FURTHER DELAY. More manpower and equipment is needed to cleanup the massive damage already done to the Gulf.

It is the official position of this organization that the wide scope of this major catastrophe warrants seizure of any and all assets of BP by the US government in order to insure that BP assets are used for the oil cleanup efforts, NOT the assets of US taxpayers. Further, the federal government MUST DEMAND that all BP assets seized by the federal government be used exclusively to restore the Gulf of Mexico, its beaches, and habitats to the condition they were in prior to BP's devastating oil spill. This effort must be undertaken to the fullest extent humanly possible. In addition to being held legally liable and ultimately responsible for all cleanup costs, BP must also be held accountable and legally liable for all costs related to mitigation of health effects of this oil spill to both humans and marine life that arise from this toxic spill.

Why we are working so hard

"What we are fighting for is not just the fish and the birds. We protect nature not for nature's sake but for our own sake because it's the infrastructure of our communities, and if we want to meet the obligations of our civilization and our culture which are to create communities for our children that provide them with the same opportunities for dignity and enrichment as the communities that our parents gave us, we've got to start by protecting that infrastructure; the air that we breathe, the water that we drink, the landscapes that enrich us. We're not protecting nature for nature's sake. We're protecting it because it enriches us, yes, it enriches our economy and we ignore that at our peril. But it is also enriching us aesthetically, recreationally, culturally, historically and spiritually. Human beings have other appetites besides money. And if we don't feed them, we're not going to grow up…we're not going to become the kind of beings that our creator intended us to become." - Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
